STUDY ABROAD AND PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS’ GLOBAL COMPETENCE

Globalization has made the world a more interdependent and multicultural society. Global issues, including regional conflicts, pandemics, climate change, affect human life across boundaries cultures require people to collaborate in solving problems. Under this context, teachers with global perspective diverse values can enhance students' views, foster respect for difference, develop responsibility sustainable inclusive world. Thus, need professional development prepare be globally competent been extensively recognized. Recently, study abroad program as an effective means of developing competence increasingly researched implemented teacher education (Huang et al., 2023; Okken 2019). Unlike stand-alone training courses, studying provides immersive opportunities participants expose themselves different educational systems cultures. Such intercultural encounter experiences broaden teachers’ pedagogical repositories skills teach students, understanding facilitate reflection on personal identities.
